Laundrybox in Dubai eyes global franchising

Laundrybox, an automated and smart lockers laundry system where users can easily drop off and pick up their laundry, was launched in May 2013 in Dubai. The company is now planning expansion in regards to more locations as well as providing more services.

Today, Laundrybox is in 25 buildings, with 1,000 clients and 30 employees. It recently started a second round of funding, securing $1.4 million USD from Al Zarooni Emirates Investments to move forward with their activities and expansion plans. The concept, allowing customers to get their laundry done hassle free, is not comparable to traditional dry cleaners, according to company owner Bader Al Kalooti. “It’s like Nokia vs. iPhone. It offers the same basic function but it is different.” The most important expansion plans for Laundrybox remain to expand on the regional and international level thanks to franchise programs that will be ready by the end of the year; including manuals, trainings, and procedures. Al Kalooti has also started negotiations with potential clients in other Gulf and English-speaking markets.
